Softball Enters Final Week
The Golden Knights softball team continued its competitive play last week, posting a 2-2 mark in GCAA play. The week kicked off Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep at Andrew College as WGTC won 4-2 and 8-5. In the opener, Kati Mills (Douglasville – South Paulding) led the way both at the plate and on the mound. The freshman was 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI. She also picked up the win, allowing 2 hits and 2 unearned runs through 5 innings. In the 2nd game, a pair of freshmen powered the offense. Lindsey Taylor (Stockbridge – Woodland) was 2-3 with a double and 3 RBI while Taylor Knight (Carrollton – Mt. Zion) was 2-3 with a double, 2 RBI and 2 runs. Sophomore Sam Sneed (McDonough – Eagle's Landing) allowed just 2 hits over 4 innings to pick-up the win.
On Wednesday, the Knights traveled to Tifton and a meeting with 2nd place Abraham Baldwin. In Game 1, WGTC battled with Mills allowing just 1 hit over 6 innings, but lost the opener 3-2. The Fillies took game 2 by an 11-0 margin.
This week marks the final full week of the regular season. On Monday, GCAA foe South Georgia visits Carrollton for a 3 pm doubleheader. Coach Monica Mills will take her team on the road on Wednesday, stepping out of conference play against the junior varsity squad from Young Harris at 2 pm. The Knights (18-25, 8-16) will travel to Georgia Highlands Saturday for the final GCAA contest on the schedule. Sophomore day is set for Sunday with a 2 pm doubleheader against Chattahoochee Valley in Carrollton.

Baseball Has Winning Week - ABAC Up Next
Coach Beau Welborn's club is coming off a good week. With the GCAA playing individual games, the Knights went 2-1 over 3 games. The Knights traveled to South Georgia on Monday. Sophomore Justin Guyton (Acworth – Allatoona) led the offense with a 2-4 performance with 2 doubles and 2 runs and freshman lefthander Isaac Miller (Powder Springs – Harrison) allowed 2 hits through 6 innings to earn his 4th win as WGTC won 6-3.
In Wednesday's matchup at Georgia Highlands, the Knights showed off the power. Sophomore Joey DeMasi (Stone Mountain – Parkview) clubbed 2 homeruns while Max Tracey (So., Norcross – Norcross) and Malcolm Falardeau (Fr., Kennesaw – Kennesaw Mountain) each hit a homerun, but the Knights lost a late lead and fell 6-5 to the Chargers. WGTC bounced back with a late inning victory over Andrew at home on Thursday. After losing the lead in the top of the 7th, the Knights responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning and then added a run in the 8th en route to a 7-4 victory. Sophomore Jacob Warren (Powder Springs – Hillgrove) led the way offensively with a homerun and 2 RBI as the Knights improved to 17-24 overall, 8-16 in GCAA play.
WGTC begins a series at home Tuesday with Abraham Baldwin. The single game is set for 6 pm. The Knights will travel to Tifton for a 6 pm game Friday and a 1 pm doubleheader Saturday.
