Carrollton, GA – While the 2018 spring season may not have registered as many wins as hoped on the field, West Georgia Tech student-athletes were winning in the classroom. No fewer than 7 WGTC athletes have been recognized to NJCAA All-Academic Student-Athlete Teams.
Softball players recognized as First Team All-Academic are Chancey Davis (So. • Ellijay-Gilmer Co.), Kendall Hardy (So. • Powder Springs-Hiram), and Alexandra Yarnall (Fr. • Douglasville-Home School.) Another softball player, Baylee Blaylock (Fr. • Calhoun-Sonoraville) and baseball player Cory York (So. • Cumming-North Forsyth) were each named Second Team All-Academic. Two other softball players, Kayelyn Lewis (So. • Grayson-Grayson) and Samantha Sneed (Fr. • McDonough-Eagle's Landing) were named Third Team All-Academic.
The NJCAA uses the following criteria in recognizing student-athletes: First team selections must have a 4.00 grade point average. Second Team selections must have a grade point average between 3.80 and 3.99. To qualify as a Third Team selection, student-athletes must earn a grade point average between 3.60 and 3.79.
